I’m actually a name here and not just a number. Ive been to another place and it’s nothing like it is here.Posted on April RodenbaughMarch 19, 2024 I transferred from Camden treatment center and I am glad that I did the only downside of it is that I was getting 27 bottles at Camden treatment center and when I I got here I only get 13 it makes me feel like I have been down graded but it is what it is. I enjoy coming here is clean quiet drama free nobody standing outside bugging you to buy something or asking for something just in an out . Conditions We Address: Opioid Use Disorder
Opioid use disorder doesn’t look the same for everyone, and it doesn’t begin the same way either. Some people become dependent following a prescription. Others have been struggling for years. Wherever you are in your journey, our Hampton Roads methadone clinic can help.
We have extensive experience helping patients across South Hampton Roads find freedom from opioids including:
- Heroin
- Fentanyl
- OxyContin
- Vicodin and other prescription painkillers
Your experience with opioid use disorder is unique to you, and your treatment plan will be too. We take the time to understand your history, your health, and your goals so we can build a path forward that’s made for you specifically.
If you’re ready to retake control over your life, talk with us today.
How Our Medication-Assisted Treatment Program Works
The physical side of opioid addiction, the withdrawal symptoms, the relentless cravings, can make it nearly impossible to focus on anything else. Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) addresses that reality head-on.
At Affinity Healthcare Group, our MAT program uses FDA-approved medications, including methadone and suboxone, to ease the physical symptoms of withdrawal. When your body is stabilized, your mind has room to heal. That’s when processing emotions, building coping skills, and rebuilding relationships becomes possible.
The Impact Methadone Treatment Can Have on Your Recovery
Methadone treatment has decades of clinical evidence behind it. Administered under careful medical supervision and paired with behavioral therapy, it gives patients a genuine, sustainable path toward long-term recovery. Our addiction medicine physicians monitor your progress closely and adjust your treatment plan as you grow.
At our methadone clinic in Norfolk serving Chesapeake and the Southside, MAT is never a standalone solution; it’s the foundation on which your full recovery is built.
Counseling Services That Reinforce Long-Term Recovery
Getting physically stable is the first chapter of recovery. Writing the rest of the story takes more. Many of the people we treat are balancing recovery with shift work at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, the port terminals, or job sites across Chesapeake and Suffolk. Tradespeople over on the Peninsula have a dedicated Newport News clinic closer to the yards there. At Affinity Healthcare Group, we pair every MAT program with evidence-based behavioral therapy that fits real schedules, because lasting recovery means addressing both the body and the mind.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Many people with opioid use disorder carry thought patterns that predate the addiction: shame, avoidance, negative self-talk. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helps you see how those thoughts drive behavior and work with your therapist to shift them toward healthier choices.
Reality Therapy
You can’t always change what you feel or your circumstances, but you can change what you do next. Grounded in Choice Theory, Reality Therapy connects your behavior to core needs like freedom, achievement, and acceptance, then helps you find healthier ways to meet them.
Motivational Interviewing
Sometimes the hardest part isn’t withdrawal, it’s staying motivated when the road gets long. Motivational Interviewing helps you reconnect with your own reasons for change and use them as the engine for recovery, instead of leaning on outside pressure.
Solution-Focused Therapy
Your past doesn’t have to define your future. Solution-Focused Therapy looks forward instead of back, building your recovery on the strengths and resilience you already carry so you can see yourself as fully capable of the life you want.

Why People in Chesapeake Choose Affinity Health Clinics
For Chesapeake residents, our clinic sits just over the line in Norfolk at 415 N Military Highway, near JANAF, a straight shot up I-464 from South Norfolk or in on I-64 from Greenbrier. With daily methadone dosing, that short drive is often the difference between treatment that sticks and treatment you quit. If you’re coming from the Virginia Beach side, our methadone clinic in Virginia Beach may be the shorter trip.
What sets Affinity Healthcare Group apart:
- Same-day starts. Same-day medication and transfers, plus weekend intakes, so you don’t wait a cravings-filled week to begin.
- Transportation help. Coming from Deep Creek, Hickory, or across the river in Portsmouth? We help arrange the ride to your first visit.
- Insurance accepted. Virginia Medicaid, Medicare, and most commercial plans, so cost isn’t what stops you.
- Methadone and Suboxone. Your medication is matched to your history and goals, not to what we happen to stock.
- One coordinated team. Physicians, nurses, and counselors review your progress together, so everyone treating you knows where you stand.
- Private by design. The Norfolk location keeps your care discreet and separate from your day-to-day community.
Recovery also doesn’t end at the dosing window. As you stabilize, we connect you with local resources for employment, housing, and medical care, and we can help you navigate the probation or parole system when that’s part of your situation. Rebuilding a life after opioid use disorder takes more than medication and therapy, and we’re built to support all of it.
Questions We Hear Most From Chesapeake Patients
How soon can I get take-home methadone doses in Virginia?
Take-homes are earned over time, not handed out on day one. Virginia follows federal opioid treatment program rules that tie take-home privileges to your time in treatment and your stability, and your care team maps that timeline out with you.
I've been using fentanyl. Will methadone still work for me?
Yes. Methadone is a full opioid agonist, which makes it well suited to the high tolerance heavy fentanyl use builds. We set your starting dose carefully and adjust it until cravings and withdrawal are under control.
Can I keep my CDL or keep working at the port while in treatment?
Plenty of our patients hold jobs at the port or the shipyard during treatment. Methadone doesn’t automatically disqualify you, and for a CDL we can provide documentation of your treatment to support your DOT medical exam.
Can I reach the Norfolk clinic on public transit from Chesapeake?
Yes. Hampton Roads Transit runs along the Military Highway corridor near our clinic, so daily dosing is doable without a car.
Can I dose here if I'm enrolled at another Hampton Roads clinic?
Yes. If you’re already in an opioid treatment program elsewhere and staying in the area, call ahead and we can arrange guest dosing so your treatment doesn’t lapse. And if you’re based over on the Peninsula, we also run a Hampton clinic.
