Medically Supervised Opioid Treatment for York County
Reaching out to a methadone clinic in Seaford, VA takes real courage, and it’s the step that changes every step after it. Opioid dependency turns each day into the same calculation: staying well enough to work, to drive, to show up for the people counting on you.
Affinity Healthcare Group treats that as a medical problem with a medical answer. Our physicians and licensed counselors stabilize the physical side of dependency first, so you have the bandwidth to rebuild everything else.
York County doesn’t have an opioid treatment program of its own. Ours sits at JANAF in Norfolk, roughly half an hour from Seaford, and we built the daily schedule around the people making that drive.

Helping You Safely Recover From Opioid Use Disorder
The path into opioid dependency is different for everyone, but the way out requires professional support. With illicit drugs becoming increasingly lethal due to fentanyl contamination, guessing with your health is no longer an option. We provide expert care for individuals struggling with:
- Fentanyl
- Heroin
- OxyContin (oxycodone)
- Vicodin (hydrocodone)
- Percocet
- Codeine-based drugs
- Morphine
- Various prescription and synthetic painkillers
We help patients from Seaford itself and from nearby Grafton, Tabb, Poquoson, and Newport News. If you’re ready to reclaim your life, talk with us.
How We Use Medication to Ease Your Recovery Process
Quitting cold turkey is a notoriously painful process with high relapse rates because the physical sickness is simply unmanageable. Our Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) program utilizes FDA-approved methadone and suboxone to mitigate that pain entirely.
Our holistic care model incorporates:
- Private therapy sessions
- Group recovery meetings
- Targeted psychological care
- Continuous physician oversight
By treating both the chemical imbalance in your brain and the emotional roots of your addiction, we set you up for a recovery that lasts.
The Benefits of Methadone for Addiction Treatment
Methadone is a lifeline that helps patients transition from chaos to calm. Because it blocks withdrawal without producing a high, you can engage with your life normally. Whether you work on the Peninsula, are raising a family, or simply want to enjoy the coastal peace of York County, methadone gives you the physical stability to do it.
The advantages of our methadone program include:
- Stopping physical sickness in its tracks
- Minimizing intense psychological cravings
- Restoring chemical balance in the brain
- Empowering you to work and socialize normally
- Building a reliable pathway to recovery
Your doctor will monitor your body’s response, carefully adjusting your medication levels to ensure you remain stable and comfortable.
Judgment-Free Counseling for Long-Term Success
Medicine treats the body, but counseling heals the mind. Affinity ensures that robust behavioral therapy is a mandatory and highly effective part of your MAT program.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
CBT focuses on dismantling toxic thought loops. Your therapist will help you understand how your thoughts dictate your behaviors, giving you practical exercises to manage stress, anger, and anxiety without resorting to opioids.
Reality-Based Therapy
Focused heavily on the present, Reality-Based Therapy helps you look at your current reality. We work with you to ensure your daily behaviors are actually helping you meet your fundamental needs for belonging, power, and freedom, rather than working against them.
Motivational Interviewing
Ambivalence is a normal part of early recovery. Motivational Interviewing involves collaborative, empathetic chats designed to help you push past that hesitation. We help you connect with your deepest personal values to fuel your desire to stay clean.
Solution-Focused Counseling
We prefer to look at what is going right. Solution-Focused Counseling projects a successful tomorrow and helps you leverage your current assets, talents, and past victories to build a realistic roadmap to get there.

Why People in Your Community Rely On Affinity
From Seaford, the trip runs Victory Boulevard or Route 17 to I-64, then east through Hampton and the Bridge-Tunnel to our Norfolk methadone clinic at JANAF. We know that’s a real commitment, so we built the program around it.
- Doors open at 5:30 AM. First shift at the shipyard and on base starts early, and so do we. Dose and still clock in on time.
- Weekend dosing. We dose Saturday and Sunday mornings, so treatment never costs you a workday.
- Take-home doses as you stabilize. Patients who meet federal criteria, meaning clean screens, consistent attendance, and active participation in counseling, earn take-homes. The drive stops being a daily one.
- Same-day starts. Withdrawal doesn’t wait for an opening next week. You can be assessed and dosed the day you decide.
- One coordinated team. Physicians, nurses, and counselors meet in regular clinical staff meetings, so nobody treats you in isolation.
Privacy carries more weight in a community this size. Seaford, Dandy, and Grafton are places where people recognize each other’s trucks in a parking lot. Being 25 miles and a bridge-tunnel removed from that is, for a lot of our patients, the point.
What Your First Visit Looks Like
Intake is one visit, and in most cases you leave with your first dose.
- Call 757-275-0594.
We take same-day appointments and weekend intakes. Tell us what you’re using and how much so we can plan your start before you arrive. - Bring three things.
A photo ID, your insurance card, and any records from a previous program or prescriber. - Medical exam and history.
Our physician reviews your health, your use, and anything else you’re currently being treated for. - Clinical assessment.
A counselor works through your goals and builds your treatment plan with you, including which counseling track fits. - First dose, usually the same day.
Plan on two to three hours for this visit. You’ll come in daily during the morning window at first while we find your stable dose. After that, dosing takes minutes.
Questions You May Have About The Recovery Process
Is there a methadone clinic in Seaford or anywhere in York County?
No. York County has no licensed opioid treatment program, so Seaford residents travel to Newport News, Hampton, or Norfolk to dose. Ours is at JANAF, just off Military Highway.
How long is the drive from Seaford?
About 30 minutes via I-64 and the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel outside of rush hour. Dosing opens at 5:30 AM specifically so you can get ahead of the worst of it.
Will methadone treatment affect my security clearance or base access?
It’s one of the first questions we hear from families near the Naval Weapons Station and Langley. Your treatment records are protected under federal confidentiality law, and we’ll walk through your specific situation privately before you commit to anything.
Does Virginia Medicaid cover methadone treatment?
Yes. Virginia Medicaid covers medication-assisted treatment through its ARTS benefit, methadone included. We verify your coverage before your first visit, and we also accept Medicare and most commercial plans.
I'm already dosing at another Peninsula clinic. Can I transfer or dose here temporarily?
Yes to both. We handle transfers with no gap in your care, and we accommodate guest dosing as long as your home clinic sends your dosing information ahead of time.
